Ricky completed his BSc at Flinders University in 2011. Since then, he has worked extensively in anatomical pathology. In 2016 he made a career change into clinical biobanking and worked as a senior neuro-oncology biobank technician for the NHS and the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. In this role, he worked closely with neuro-oncology patients by providing informed consent for the collection, histology processing and subsequent biobanking of patient neuro-surgical samples for future research. He completed his MSc in Genomic Medicine at the University of Manchester and wrote his dissertation whilst redeployed as a mortuary assistant during the onset of COVID-19 in 2020. Ricky returned home to Adelaide in 2021 and now works as the biobank technical officer for the University of Adelaide Biobank.
